Abstract

- The paper is based on the grammatical metaphor in systemic functional grammar and multi-stratification social semiotics of language and explores the generative mechanism categories and features of nominalization in business discourse We can conclude that nominalization originates from a rank shift in the course of grammatical metaphor The choice of nominalization is non-arbitrary for it connects with the communicative purpose of speakers Nominalization is a source of reconstructing human experiences a process of the reconstruction of new meaning At the same time nominalization can push the development of theme and information contributing to the construction of discourse meaning revealing non-arbitrariness and constructiveness of nominalization in business discourse
