Abstract

This article focuses on the possibility of reducing poverty from an external source of finance as ODA, the example given is that of Cameroon. The purpose of this paper is to check the behavior of poverty in the presence of official development assistance. The data used come mainly from the World Bank, in "the book of world development indicators" on the CD -ROM (WDI 2014). Working for the period 1980-2013, the analysis was made with an error correction model. The endogenous variable is the average per capita income. Estimates made from the method of Johansen (1988), it appears that official development assistance has no effect on the level of poverty in Cameroun. The transformation of official development assistance in real gift would help to avoid the increasing indebtedness and thus reduce poverty.

Dazoue Dongue Guy-Paulin

Dazoue Dongue Guy-Paulin is a Cameroonian economist and researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Dschang, where he works in the Department of Economic Policy and Analysis. His research focuses on the macroeconomic impacts of foreign aid, trade openness, and governance in developing countries, with a particular emphasis on Cameroon and the CEMAC region. Over the course of his career, he has authored or co-authored 11 scholarly papers examining topics such as the effectiveness of official development assistance, the relationship between credit, inflation, and growth, and the theoretical foundations of aid. His work has been published through Global Journals and reflects a sustained interest in poverty reduction, economic growth, and international cooperation. Dr. Dazoue has also held academic positions at the University of Maroua and the University of Yaoundé Soa, contributing to the broader economic discourse in Central Africa.

Mba Fokwa Ars?ne

Mba Fokwa Arsène is an economist and researcher affiliated with the Faculty of Economics and Management, Department of Economic Policy and Analysis at the University of Dschang, Cameroon. His research spans macroeconomic policy, financial sector analysis, and development economics, with a particular focus on the Cameroonian and CEMAC regional contexts. He has authored or co-authored over a dozen scholarly articles addressing topics such as the nexus between credit, inflation, and economic growth; inflation targeting under fixed exchange rates; determinants of bank profitability; the impact of public aid on poverty reduction and economic growth; and consumer behavior regarding counterfeit products. His work employs rigorous econometric methods and panel data analysis, contributing to policy-relevant knowledge in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Arsène is also known under the name Nselapi Nocheh Dieudonne and maintains an active research agenda in green agriculture, financial inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
