Abstract

This study investigates the relationships between youth and total employment and trade, and economic growth in Sudan over the period 1970-2017. Variable time series of concern are found to be integrated of the order I(0) and I(1), thus the study uses Autoregressive distributed lags ARDL bounds test to cointegration. The empirical results reveal existence of a long run equilibrium relationship between the two types of employment, trade and economic growth. In the short run, youth employment is found to be more affected by trade, economic and population growth in presence of economic policy variables than by total employment.
